Calculating Area of Shapes
Area is just the size of a 2D surface, but how do we figure out the area. As long as you have some basic measurements, you can figure out the area for a lot of common shapes. Lets start with rectangles. For any rectangle, you simply get the width and the height and multiply them together. Here are 2 diagrams showing the equation for the area and an example of the usage.

Another common shape is the triangle, the equation for this is similar to the equation of the square. The equation is the base of the triangle (the width) multiplied by the height of the triangle, then all divided by 2.

The final common shape I will show you, is the trapezoid. The equation goes width of the top side, plus width of the bottom side, then all of that divided by 2, then finally all multiplied by the height.
